80's colors penguin cake
This cake was a little girl turning 9. She loves to dance and I guess she likes penguins too :-) So her mom wanted a penguin with a tutu. The birthday girl was also doing a dance performance and the main dance has the girls wearing the "80's" florescent glasses, also know as the "Kanye West" glasses for the younger generations, lol. So hence the glasses all over the cake :-)
The cake is an ice cream cake with vanilla cake and cookies and cream ice cream. I actually added neon colors to the vanilla cake so it was a neon rainbow cake when they cut into it.

I didn't really think of it when I was doing the letters, I forgot to punch out the holes in some of the letter...I don't know what I was thinking! |

Massage Table Cake (kinda NSFW?)
This cake is probably my favorite so far. It was the second time I have ever used fondant to cover a cake, and I had a blast making the man. Everything about the cake was good, the way it tasted, looked, the TIME it took (which wasn't long compared to many other cakes I've made), even the way it sliced! Only regret...I didn't get a nice platter or flat sheet to put the cake on :-( It was for my cousin so...oh well i guess!
I made modeling chocolate with peanut butter melting chips and covered rice crispy treats with it for the man. I made chocolate cake with homemade strawberry whipped icing for the filling (it's always a huge hit) It tasted sooo good! It was a really big cake, I made two full sheet cakes then cut them in 1/4th's. I needed to make it long and skinny to get realistic proportions for the table. I loved the fondant for this because I wanted it to look like a sheet over a table, so I didn't need it to look flat, just "fall where it may". The man IS...."biologically" correct underneath the sheet, just over proportioned, lol! Anyway, everyone loved it! Everyone wanted a piece of the man, he actually tasted amazing!

Turkey Cake Pops!
These turkey pops are some of the hardest and most time consuming of all cake pops, but they are the cutest! Well...I'm torn between the turkey and witches for Halloween. They are both adorable. What do you think?
Anyway, obviously I used candy corn for the feathers. I like to use the regular ones instead of the caramel candy corn (has a brown end instead of yellow). Plus, it's hard to get the caramel candy corn, because it's only available in the fall, and you have to buy a mixed bag. The regular ones stand out more and are much more colorful.
The head is a chocolate covered almond, but I've used caramel squares before, which I prefer, because they also stand out better and are brighter against the chocolate candy coating. The nose and red thingy also stick better to the caramel square.
The beak is a mini candy coated chocolate chip, the red dangley thing (whatever you call it, lol) are jumbo heart sprinkles, and pretzels for the legs. Like I said they are time consuming, but worth it! They are also HUGE.

London Cake
I made this cake for a woman turning 90 years old.....90!!!! How amazing is that!? Anyway, one of her sons was planning the whole party and he told me that she was born and raised in London, and he thought it would be great to have a London themed cake. So I made a two tiered marble cake and my homemade cream cheese frosting for the filling and the outside, and homemade butter cream frosting for the pictures. I really love how the cake turned out! I printed out images and put wax paper on top, then with a very small tip, i traced the pictures with the frosting, then put them in the freezer to harden. Then I simply put the image on the cake and CAREFULLY pull the wax paper off. I had to fix some of the pictures, but all in all, it turned out awesome!

Holloween Cake Pops
Adorable Halloween Cake Pops! Witches $2.50; Pumpkins and Ghosts $2.00. Ghost Pumpkins $3.00 I love using the mint chocolate for the witches, it ads so much more yummy flavor! The witches hair, I used gum paste, but usually the black licorice "wheels" work the best, but I couldn't find any. The hat is an Oreo with dark chocolate Hershey kiss, and the nose is a tic tac!
My favorite witch! |
Mr. ghost is not pleased.... |
I love the ghost on the far right "d'oh!" |
yeah yeah....he looks like the has braces. |
These cupcakes were really awesome! I made the ghost body from two mini reeses ups and put fondant over them. And the pumpkin is a whopper with gum paste wrapped around. |
